Vindaloo Against Violence campaign in Australia
Australian Government Ministers Stephen Smith, Anthony Albanese, Jenny Macklin, Tanya Plibersek and Kate Ellis with Mrs Anandi Venkatesh at the Jewel of India in Canberra on 24 February 2010. The Ministers were taking part in Vindaloo Against Violence, a private initiative which encouraged Australians to demonstrate their support for Australia's Indian community and opposition to racism. Over 17,000 people around Australia are said to have participated in Vindaloo Against Violence.
Mozart of Madras performs in Australia
Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Parramatta Park in Sydney on Saturday, 16 January for a concert by the internationally renowned Indian music composer A R Rahman.
The concert was a part of the Sydney Festival. Attended by over 70,000 people who danced to the tunes of ‘Jai Ho’ and other Rahman hits, the concert was telecast live into India by Australia Network.
